you will please restrict your remarks to the weather.
Which has been very nice the last couple of days, but poured like the sky was a neverending seive for the couple of days before that.
It is very strange to have so much natural water. From the sky! We live in a semi-arid region. It's not really supposed to rain....
And we haven't had to turn the irrigation on for our lawn and gardens, but everything is growing like gangbusters.

Summer Memories
End of July this year, we will be having another family reunion down at the lake. So I was looking over pictures from the last one.
^_^
Hmmmm. I'm excited for this to come round again! It'll be a nice change after almost 3 weeks in Ethiopia!

Walking
I love walking. I love the warm useful feelings that tingles in my legs for an hour after a good, long walk. I love turning my face to the wind and feeling the sunshine on my face, and my arms. I love having my jacket blow across my body in the wind. I love being completely and utterly alone when I go rambling.
Solitary ramble just sounds so alluring, doesn't it?
My thoughts are my own when I go out walking. Not that they are ever really anybody else's... but when no one can see them written on my face, I don't need to worry about being asked about them.
I went a'walk this evening. For nearly 2 hours. Out past the houses and into the countryside, where the fields are turning green and growing in glistening rows. Where the roads are dirt, and there is almost no traffic.
I explored some construction that is encroaching into the fields. They have already paved a long boulevard, and it looks like a whole new subdivision is going in where there used to be open space.
Much as new developments are interesting, and I like to watch them go up... it used to be open space.
Now I'll have to walk a little farther afield (harhar) to get past the high density civilization and reach cultivated farmland.
I stretched extensively when I got home. I haven't been much in the habit of long walks recently, so I'm betting I"ll be rather stiff tomorrow.
But that's ok.
I'm going for a walk in the morning.
And that heals a score of woes.

A week at the Cabin
The weather held out for one day of our half-week here, the rest of the time it rained.
But we certainly improved those shining hours!!
Tons of yardwork
Time spent gazing at the lake... while doing some weeding.
My little sister got to spend a couple hours on the roof. Did you know it's easier to clean eaves-troughs from the top then from on a ladder? Good thing she can touch her toes....
We put the dock back out into the lake.. and spent more time gazing at the mountains.
Me, and my Mom, and my sister!!! With a broom.
Last year this peninsula was an island.. we're hoping the lake doesn't rise quite that much this year....
Sweeping off the deck (which we had to reset on it's pilings, cuz last year the water was so high, it floated)
Can you see it?? A wild turkey!! It came right up to our door and pooped on our lawn. We are plotting revenge in September....

On our way!
Today there is a whole lotta baking going on in our kitchen.
Tomorrow is my younger brother's wedding reception here in our hometown. And like the over-acheivers we are, we are cooking all the goods ourselves. *heh*
Thankfully, Mom's got some awesome friends who were only too happy to come over and visit... while baking at the same time.
^_^
Yay!
It's not noon yet, and we've made 30 twice-baked potatoes, 4 loaves of bread, and I think they are working on jello salads and muffins up there.
Mmmmmm food.
